Wanderlust? Actually Planning a Trip Once You Have an Idea

I spend a seriously alarming amount of time daydreaming about places I want to go and things I want to do. Like for real – I should spend a lot more time focused on finishing my last semester of school or working. Its not like I regret it – I have just realize how much time I have been spending planning trips way wayyyy into the future.

However, that gave me the idea for today’s post. With all this time I spend daydreaming, very little is concrete information or plans. I decided to write about actually getting down to planning a trip once you have your idea. I am going to try to keep this simple and straightforward, things you need to do to plan your dream trip.

First things first. Where do you want to go? Leave a comment below and I would be more than willing to help you find things to do or to help you plan the logistics of it!

Where to? One thing I do is just think of the first place that comes to mind. Think of the place that you have been dreaming about, the place you NEED to go. This ensures that you won’t feel ‘trip regret’. I just made that up – but basically once I get to planning and BUDGETING I usually get a little nervous because it is actually booked! However, this has never lasted more than a little while – then the excitement sets in!

How long? A week, a month, a year? Up to you! I usually plan how long I can be gone for – then plan things that I can fill that time with!

BUDGET! This is a huge one for me as I tend to go on backpacking trips reliant on hostels or camping.

Research! Plan great places to stay, things to do, etc. The internet is great for this. Some sites I suggest are listed below!

This is just a starting point! If you have any questions about an upcoming trip – I loveeeee that sort of stuff! I can help you plan, give recommendations, etc.

Happy Travels!

I do the same thing!! My friends don’t understand how I can spend all day looking for places to explore or why I love hiking when I walk for 12 hours at work! Good to find someone like me!! Thank you!
